I’ve not had the time or patience to put up with fandom sexism in a long while, and I’m out of practice with writing feminist fandom posts, so here’s an abbreviated version of my thoughts.

• The word “slut” exists only to insult and repress a woman’s sexuality.
• A woman’s natural figure does not define who she sleeps with.
• A woman’s clothing choice does not define who she sleeps with.
• A woman’s desire for romance does not necessarily include a desire for sex. And if she does desire sex, then what does it matter to you?

OP, you have nothing to feel bad about whatsoever.

I usually find it amusing when people label Tifa as promiscuous based solely on her appearance, when demure-looking Aerith is one of the most flirtatious girls in the whole franchise yet is all too often placed on a pedestal as a perfect and completely pure maiden.

Don’t read that as if I dislike Aerith, she’s actually my favourite because of her flaws and humanity, in a game full of equally flawed and brilliant characters all too often ignored because the majority of its fanbase are only in it for it’s surface appeal. (OMG SEPHIROTH IS SO COOL BIG SWORDS ARE AWESOME OH MY GOD VINCENT IS SO MOODY SEXY OMFG BEST GAME EVER!!1!!)
Those are also the same fans that call Tifa a slut.
Or still waste their time over which girl (OR GUY?!?!”>!?!) Cloud should get with.

This has become something of a rant rather than a real response huh.

FF7 is probably my favourite but oh my god it is difficult to imagine a worse fandom.

I’m a little confused.

How do you go from seeing this:

To thinking, “Hey, I just had a great idea for a cocktail!!”

Okay like, Aerith is my favourite character in FF7 but putting her up on some impossibly high pedestal is the stupidest thing ever.

She is more believably human than any other character in the game, and just as flawed. She’s a huge flirt and runs headfirst into dangerous situations without considering the consequences. She’s really sweet, and yeah she manages to save the day from beyond the dead… but she didn’t intend to sacrifice herself, she only wanted to summon Holy - and Holy just made things worse.

She’s not some perfect angel, anyone who makes her out to be such mustn’t have been paying attention.
