I’ve also been to a few London MCM Expos, and HYPER JAPAN 2010, Thoughtbubble 2010 and so on, but none of those events give you badges.

I know I’m wtfing so hard over the complaints over the $40 price. That’s not bad at all, especially for a growing con.

seriously. I can understand that people would be upset that it’s more expensive than PCC, but PCC has a MUCH higher attendance, and makes a lot of money. anime con attendance numbers are actually down overall in recent years, so I am not at all surprised that they’ve raised the prices.

Think that’s bad?
The two best (ie: only ones really worth going to) cons in the UK are both £45.
Running that through xe, that’s currently $74
Then you have to factor in travel (trains are stupid expensive in the UK lately), accomodation (No matter where you go you’re looking at £50-£70 a night unless you’re brave enough to do a big roomshare)….

$40 works out at about £25… I would just about faint at a good convention being that cheap!
